Another success story for the GM2800

Walmer & Kingsdown Golf Club, established in 1909, has recently taken delivery of a Baroness GM2800 Rotary Mower. Neil Douglass, the Course Manager, was keen to select the machine most able to cope with the variety of terrain on a course that prides itself in appealing to men, ladies and juniors alike.

The GM2800B is a 5 unit Rotary mower with a 2.8metre cutting width, meaning it can cover large areas very quickly. With each of the 5 cutting deck’s able to move freely it makes it easy to follow contours and eliminate scalping tendencies.

The course extends to some 6471 yards of Downland turf on the East and West sides of a ridge spanning the Downs. In 2012, one of the most adverse seasons on record provided perfect conditions for testing various machines. Neil Douglass was confident that the GM2800 had proven its ability to find traction and provide a quality finish in the most arduous conditions. Build quality, ease of height of cut adjustment and ease of maintenance were key factors in the purchasing decision.

BTME 2013 PROVED A SUCCESS FOR BARONESS

This year’s BTME show in Harrogate has proved to be a successful one for Baroness. Attracting a lot of attention from Dealers and Greenkeepers looking at our wide range of machinery that will keep fairways, rough areas and greens in immaculate condition. For example the LM2700 Fairway mower.

The LM2700 is best known for its quality of cut, durability and low whole life service costs.

In an interview with Greenkeeping Magazine Matt Hawker, Head Greenkeeper at Bristol and Clifton Golf Club spoke highly of the 5 unit Fairway Mower that he has had for a number of years.

Matt was asked about his “favourite piece of equipment” along with his opinion on the quality of cut, reliability, level of maintenance and why he was generally pleased with this machine.

Matt said; “This year will be its fourth season at Bristol and Clifton. In my mind it has already truly proved itself. With incredible build quality and minimal maintenance requirements, it has become our most reliable and cost effective unit“. Mr Hawker then went on to discuss the high quality of cut achieved with this Fairway Mower stating “The quality of cut is second to none and we’ve yet to change the original bottom blades. Once the cut is set, it can be weeks in a normal growing season before any further attention is required”.

He then went on to discuss how Bristol and Clifton mechanic, Ken Weaver, was very pleased with the “ease of servicing” and when there has been an occasional problem, breakdown service was “quick and professional“.

Matt was also impressed with the LM315 Greens Mower on display for the first time at this year’s BTME show. “I had a look around the new Baroness Greens Mower at BTME and it definitely looks to me that it should follow in the footsteps of its big brother and become a big competitor on the short grass”.

Birch Grove rakes in the rewards with the SP05

Birch Grove Housing Estate in Sussex has been a residence which has accommodated some of history’s biggest names. Between 1957-1963 former Prime Minister, Sir Harold MacMillan, lived here. Birch Grove also attracted visits from Winston Churchill, General Charles De Gaulle and John F. Kennedy. However within this estate is a beautiful 18 hole golf course. Course Manager, Peter Smith, who has been given the task of reinstating this magnificent Golf Course has selected a Baroness SP05 Bunker Rake to help him achieve this.

The Baroness SP05 Bunker Rake has 3 optional attachments, a Front Blade, Cultivator and a Brush and is designed to help you easily even out all bunkers using a flexible swing rake that swings smoothly with a low fulcrum.

Peter commented on both the quality of the Baroness machine and also the high levels of service given by Lister Wilder:

“The bunker rake was truly impressive in fact both myself and my deputy both agreed within a few minutes of using it that we had to have one! Its manoeuvrability is class leading, which after all is the main requirement in a bunker rake! Also the service I have received from the team at Lister Wilder has been exceptional and has left me with no hesitation in buying the bunker rake from them and recommending them as a first class machinery, service and parts dealer”

Lister Wilder and the GM2800B make an impact.

After successfully delivering GM2800B semi rough ride on mowers to Hersham, South West London and South Cerney Golf Clubs Lister Wilder wanted to find out what made them choose Baroness over our leading competitors. Lister Wilder went to find out from Hersham Golf Club Course Manager Kevin Day, Course Manager for 10 years, and Joe Curtis, Head Greenkeeper at South Cerney Golf Club what they think about the Baroness GM2800B.

We had previously seen the Baroness at an Open day held by Lister Wilder at Foxhills Golf Club and were keen to try it out, as well as asking all of the other manufacturers to bring their machines in for demonstration and appraisal. There was one clear winner!” said Kevin. He was clearly impressed with the quality of build and productivity achieved.

Kevin was equally enthusiastic about the rest of the Baroness range stating “the rest of the Baroness range also looks excellent and I am hearing reports from other greenkeepers about the hard wearing cylinders and unmatched quality of cut. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the Greens Triple mower when it arrives in the UK!”

This level of praise for the GM2800B was matched by Joe curtis at South Cerney Golf Club who used the machine to replace the trailed gangs that he had used for many years.

“It’s an extremely versatile machine as it can be used not only to cut the rough but also the semi-rough and we even use it round the edge of the greens” he said. With our old gang mowers we could just simply cut the grass but now with the GM2800B we can create a more definitive stripe, the new presentation has lead to some fantastic comments from our members who have noticed the difference”.

Baroness and Lister Wilder make positive impression on Golf Courses

Baroness are yet again delivering high quality machinery, in particular the LM66 walk mower and the LM180 triple mower. Head Greenkeeper of Winter Hill Golf Club, Duncan Irvin, along with Derek Walder, the Head Greenkeeper at Reigate Golf Club spoke to local dealer Lister Wilder and gave praise, not only for the Baroness machines, but also the high quality service and back up received from Lister Wilder.

“We use LM66 Baroness mowers which we find give great value for money and the quality of the cutting cyclinders is superb”, Duncan said, adding

“We have dealt with Lister Wilder since the days of Walter Wilder around 22 years ago. We choose to buy our machinery from Lister Wilder as the range they stock suits our needs and they also provide a great back up service” he added.

Derek Walder also spoke highly of the Baroness LM66T and the LM180.

I had the machines on demo and they performed well and they were also good on price. The real decision maker though was the fact that Baroness comes with a 5 year warranty which is substantially more than most other manufacturers who generally only offer 1 or maybe 2 year warranties“.

The Baroness LM180 replaces an old Allen National which was belt driven. The Baroness has gears and is also more substantial. We use it on the semi rough and it also works well on banks. The fuel efficiency is also very good.

KYOEISHA UK LTD APPOINTS NEW DEALER FOR THE SOUTH EAST

Successful training days for European Dealers

Following on from the very successful demonstrations and sales that were achieved throughout the summer of 2010, training courses for our Austrian and Slovakian Baroness distributors took place recently at the Graz, Austria, premises of Turfhandels GmbH, our Austrian distributor.

Both Turf Handels and 3G Machinery, our distributor for Slovakia and the Czech Republic, have achieved notable sales success in their very first season of selling Baroness and the training was aimed at helping them build on their initial success and ensure that the machines they have already sold can be supported to the high standard that Baroness expects of all its distributors
